This is a "before" picture of a bedroom addition on a 60's home. Room was added to rear of house, and previous outside window was closed off between spaces. Rather than blocking off this side, it was decided to make the area into inset shelving. Walls will be painted with a ragging technique, stenciling will be added, and curtains installed over windows.

Here is the same room after painting and installation of shelving and curtains. The medium green over pale green ragging on the walls results in a soft, relaxing color, and complements the comforter on the new day-bed. When not in use, the owner's stereo and bedroom TV are hidden inside an older curved front armoire. The concrete floor was covered in new oak hardwood flooring. Additional shelving near the ceiling, painted in the same pale green used on the walls, was added to hold an extensive stuffed animal collection. A ceiling fan with appropriate lighting helps complete the look. Another view of the room is below, looking back the other direction. Rope lighting was laid on the top of the closet behind the silk flowers to provide accent lighting.

The next five pictures are from a bedroom make-over in a 50's bungalow to reflect a nautical theme, specifically lighthouses. The room was already painted in flat white, which was retained to complement the sea-side feeling of the accessories. New draperies in a striped print pick up the colors in the border print as well as the paintings and lighthouse vignettes. The natural wood dresser and bed complete the nautical feel.
Finding the accessories was one of the more important steps of this make-over, ensuring that they worked together without overpowering the space. Careful arrangement and use of special focal pieces, such as the painting over the bed, ensured that this room met the owner's needs and desires.
